A one night stand between MS Dhoni and Lakshmi Rai?

Is Lakshmi Rai getting desperate to have her name linked with Indian captain M.S Dhoni? She has been giving interviews claiming that she is open to marriage with the Indian skipper.

But MS is keeping a safe distance from her, and concentrating more on his cricket rather than talk about a “casual acquaintance”. Was it a one-night stand between Dhoni and Lakshmi Rai?

Though the actress tries to make it look like she is extremely close to him, sources in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) say he is keeping a safe distance.

It seems MS made it point to get an assurance from the organizers in South Africa that she was not given an official invitation by the IPL to attend the closing ceremony in Johannesburg !

Meanwhile after her Malayalam film 2 Harihar Nagar became a blockbuster; she has been getting a lot of offers from Malluwood. She is in a position to make it to the top in God’s own country, but her heart is in Kollywood.

Watch out for Lakshmi in Mutthirai, where she has done the role of a very sensuous bar dancer.

Brett Lee loves Preity Zinta as his favourite actress: Bolly - Cricket

Preity Zinta is my favourite actress and I’ not saying that because she is the co-owner of Kings XI Punjab,” said express bowler Brett Lee at the press conference of his acting debut Victory in Jaipur yesterday. Lee alongwith Mike Hussey, Brad Hogg, Simon Katich, RP Singh, Praveen Kumar, Dinesh Karthick and Yousuf Pathan played a competitive game under the luminous floodlights in the dexterously maintained Sawai Maan Singh Stadium. While huge sixes were being lofted all over the park, director Ajit Pal canned one shot after another in the beauteous 35 MM camera which was always at the risk of being smashed by one of Dinesh Karthick’s massive strikes.

Victory stars the sensation of 2008 Harman Baweja in the role of a cricketer from a humble background rubbing shoulders with the best in the business. “This is for the first time that you’ll see real players will be playing in a film. Except for Harman, all professional players are playing,” said producer Manmohan Shetty. Incidentally, this happens to be his first production post the winding-up at Adlabs. Shetty hasn’t coined a name for his production house (set up along with industrious daughter Pooja Shetty) yet and as for the budget of Victory, this is what he has to say, “It’s a big budget looking film but we still don’t know the exact amount as it is yet to be complete.”Alright let’s bring you an ‘ankhon dekha haal’ of what really happened at this unusual on location of a Hindi film. No grease paint adorned heroine simpering-n-careening away to glory, no humungous delays and no starry tantrums from the film crew. The film’s hero Harman Baweja remained ensconced in the player’s dressing room politely distancing himself from media speculation as his first big release Love Story 2050 is yet to be released. Without an iota of doubt Brett Lee was the hero of the day. Right from having fun with his mates at Sheraton Rajputana swimming pool (Yup watching them jump in water fully clothed was a sight) to being mobbed by the frantic crowd at the stadium who jumped barricades (A couple of demure looking policeman were more keen on protecting the newly baked pitch especially for the impending IPL fiesta than shooing away the irate public).

Lee was the cynosure of all eyes and like a star he mingled with fans, burnt sky hugging fire crackers and patiently answered queries from fan-like journos keen on knowing if he would build up a six pack or eight pack to maybe giving the Khans and the Roshans a run for their money. “I am a cricketer he said,” with a shining-sword smile and the impact was hard to miss. “Playing for Australia is my first love but there are so many other things that I like doing like fashion, music (he carried his guitar even to the stadium), and watching movies and now being a part of it. When it releases in Australia there will be lots pf laughs, lots of fun.” So, why did he agree to do Victory where he plays himself? “It is a fantastic script and hats off to people who’ve written it.”

When quizzed about the recent altercations between Indian and Australian players, Lee diplomatically said, “The relations between Indian and Australian cricketers are brilliant. There have been a few instances but these kind of things happen.” Actor Dalip Tahil who plays the coach of Indian cricket team in the field light-heartedly jumped in at this moment, “We are trying to get Brett busy with Bollywood assignments so that he doesn’t find time for cricket.”

Everyone wanted a piece of Brett Lee (though there were some who were overwhelmed with the presence of Mr Highest Average Mike Hussey too). So Brett, would you sing for us? “Haan mein tumhara hoon aur tuhara ho rahoonga,” he mouthed his lines from the Asha Bhonsle. And what’s the best Hindi film you’ve ever watched? “Any film starring Preity Zinta,” he said with a chuckle. Talk about keeping your team honour in good humour. Or does it have to do something with the rumours of their alleged fling a few years ago. Hmmmm…we aren’t jumping to conclusions. Are we! Never mind…

Victory also stars Amrita Rao and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. The music of the film has been given by Anu Malik and it is slated to release in October 2008. Don’t forget to check out the exclusive On Location video of Victory…

Bollywood Khans share the same flick..

Writer-and-director Sanjay Chhel is making a film on the lives of people associated with the Hindi film industry. However, what's interesting is that the film will be a comic take on the relationships people within the industry share with each other.

Titled Fantastic, the film will have Sanjay's personal and funny impressions that he has garnered while working in the glamour world. It is also expected to unmask how the industry truly works through situational comedy with a pinch of satire.

Sources say Sanjay might approach the top three Khans in Bollywood -- Aamir, Salman and Shah Rukh -- to make guest appearances in the film. If it happens it will be a coup of sorts as the three leading actors have never come together for a film, even if it's for a cameo.

"I will approach them to play themselves. I am looking at other actors too. I do have to show the stars and people really associated with Bollywood in the film to give it an authentic feel. I'm going to approach many people to play cameos," says Sanjay.

Though Sanjay is gung-ho about the project, his wings could get clipped with the production house looking to chop around Rs3 crore from the film's total budget of around Rs10 crore due to recession.

Sanjay says: "I have been communicated that my budget will shrink by around 30 per cent due to market conditions. One can't say much about this as it's a bad market we are working in."

Shamita Shetty eyes MS Dhoni

“Shane Warne’s a fantastic cricketer and an even better captain, but I adore Yusuf Pathan and I’m fond of M S Dhoni,” said Shamita Shetty thereby putting the speculation in wrong way that she is entangled with naughty eyed man, Shane Warne.

Shamita is in South Africa tour to cheer for her didi’s team Rajasthan Royals. Reports saying that Shamita getting cozy with Australian cricketer Shane Warne at a party thrown to mark team’s victory has been turned down by the actress.

Amused by the rumor, Shamita said, “I don’t know where the press is getting this from but it really needs to get the facts right. Honestly, it’s the funniest bit of news I’ve heard in a long time”.

Shane is her fav but she adores Pathan. “Have you seen him get ready for a six? He’s got an amazing style,” quips Shamita. And she is also Dhoni’s admirer who is from the Chennai team. Shamita is not cricket enthusiast but the IPL has drove her crazy, "I’ve turned into a cricket enthusiast overnight", remarks Shamita

Shilpa to join R&B artist Akon at IPL finale

Shilpa Shetty

Johannesburg, May 21, Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty will join American R&B sensation Akon as he sings his Grammy award winning “Smack That” at the closing ceremony of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wanderers here Sunday night.

Organisers also said here Wednesday that Katrina Kaif will join a troupe of Indian and South African dancers led by award-winning choreographer Shiamak Davar to perform the Oscar-winning

A.R. Rahman song “Jai Ho” from “Slumdog Millionaire”.

The two actors will be the only ones performing at the finale, ending widespread speculation here that a bevy of Bollywood beauties would feature at the closing ceremony.

Caribbean music legend Eddy Grant will perform the ever popular “Walking on Sunshine” and his anti-apartheid hit “Gimme Hope Jo’anna”, which became an anthem in the days when the white minority government of South Africa strictly regulated everything from music and song to social gatherings.

The five-week IPL will end on a high note for Shilpa performance-wise, but this will be clouded by the fact that her Rajasthan Royals team have no hope of retaining their champion status from the inaugural series last year.

Other highlights on the night will include a perfectly synchronised piece featuring renowned percussionist Shivamani and a group of Indian and South African drummers.

Apart from the various musical acts, the crowd will also be introduced to the Miss Bollywood IPL South Africa finalists, culminating with the crowning of the winner of the beauty competition, who will get a guided tour through Bollywood as one of her prizes.

This apart, 1,500 flying lanterns will be lit and released while a thrilling pyrotechnics show using several thousand rounds of fireworks will light up the Johannesburg skyline as final awards signal the end of an unprecedented cricket event which was keenly taken up by locals, who also opened their hearts to the thousands of Indians who came to watch the series.

Aishwarya Rai vs Sonam Kapoor: New beauty vs fading beauty

It seems that Aishwarya Rai has become some annoyed with Sonam Kapoor. Recently, she became the band ambassador of L'Oreal which is a cosmetic company. You have seen in the past that there has been some advertisement featuring Aishwarya Rai of anty-wrinkle anti-aging cosmetic product of L’Oreal. So, now it is interesting to see that the company has taken Sonam Kapoor.

Ok, when it is something that must happened because Aishwarya Rai is now nearly thirty-six and whether you like or not she is not the actress of this generation. On the other hand, Sonam Kapoor is only twenty-one or twenty-two years old and she is very young and she has the charm of youth that Aishwarya Rai does not have. It is perhaps the good time for Aishwarya Rai to become a mother and take off from the glamour industry for few years.

Bipasha Basu Out Of Race

Spurned by the Race producers, Abbas-Mustan are planning to revive their long-forgotten shelved project Mr Fraud for Tips’ rival company Astavinayak which stars Bipasha Basu.

Says Bipasha, “If Mr Fraud is revived I’d be happy to give dates. The film was shot in London and the styling was not time bound.”

Not that Bipasha is mourning her absence in Race 2. “I heard even Abbas-Mustan are not doing Race 2. If the original directors are not doing the sequel, who am I? I haven’t been approached for Race 2. That’s fine.

In Bollywood the heroines are never signed for sequels. It’s a tradition. Just check the sequels. The guys get repeated. The girls don’t. It’s a man’s world. I don’t feel like a second citizen for that.

When Raaz 2 was made everyone kept asking why I wasn’t in it. But I never worried about that. No point in crying about it.”

Moving on from Race, Bipasha has just signed her second comedy. Coincidentally comedy reprises the Mr Fraud trio.

Laughs Bipasha, “That’s right Sanjay, Ajay and I are together again in All The Best. This is the one film I’ll enjoyed doing. I had a ball doing No Entry. Intially I had too many inhibitions about Bollywod.

No Entry made me drop those inhibitions. I’m sure Rohit Shetty’s All The Best will make me more uninhibited. …It’s a fun film and I don’t have to always do roles that reflect my personality. Sometimes it’s fun to do fun film.”

Bipasha has signed only one film this year. “I don’t want do any more work than my pace allows me. I don’t want to compete with anybody. I’ve made a niche right from my first film. I’m Bipasha Basu.

I’ve heard that Yuvraj Singh asks about me: Jennifer

Jennifer Kotwal’s not one to jump on board the remake bandwagon. But she doesn’t have any such qualms about doing sequels and will reprise the role that shot her to Sandalwood stardom in Jogi 2. “I’m thrilled that I’ll get to work with Prem, who’s my favourite director, again,” gushes Jen. “The best part is that the team’s so taken up with my real-life personality that I get to play a character that’s like me — bubbly and talkative,” she laughs.

If reports are to be believed, the “bubbly and talkative” girl has caught Kings XI Punjab captain Yuvraj Singh’s eye. “I’ve read about this, and have also heard that he’s been asking about me. I don’t have time for anything of the sort because I’m busy with work,” she maintains. But what if there was a chance encounter between the two? “I’ve heard that he’s a foodie, and so am I. We could be food buddies!” says Jen.

But there’s more to why Jennifer’s not keen on Yuvi — she’s already seeing someone. “He’s a Mumbai-based businessman and that’s all I’m going to say. He doesn’t like to be in the media spotlight,” she says.

Kareena Kapoor, Saif ali Khan enjoy NY break, courtesy Vivek!

Kareena Kapoor, Saif ali Khan
Vivek Oberoi is suddenly back in business, and how!

Whether it’s for a film that he is doing with Ram Gopal Varma or for a film that he isn’t doing with Satish Kaushik (featuring Abhishek Bachchan)... Oberoi seems to be in the news constantly.

Currently in New York shooting for Rensil d’Silva’s untitled film (not called Jehad) Vivek has endeared himself to the film’s other principal leads Saif and Kareena, and not just because they share camera space so comfortably, but because he was directly instrumental in getting them an impromptu holiday in New York, ahead of the holiday that they have planned after the schedule in New York.

It so happened that Vivek had plenty of solo scenes which apparently Oberoi suggested to the director be shot all in a bunch so that Saif ali Khan and Kareena could take time off.

Resultantly Saif and Kareena ended up with two full empty days in New York.

Laughs Kareena from New York, “Yeah, Saif ali Khan and I got a two-day break in the middle of our hectic schedule because Vivek’s scenes are being shot. Saif ali Khan and I just chilled out, saw some films, ate at our favourite restaurant. It was an unexpected treat. Thanks to Vivek.”

Ranbir lied to Deepika to meet Sonam?

http://www.southasiafair.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/ranbir-kapoor-and-deepika-padukone.jpgIt seems the relationship between Bollywood’s young heart throbs couple is going through tough times. But being the good actors that they are, they are not making it visible on their cute faces. We are talking about Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
A close pal of the couple reveals, “Last week Deepika Padukone was to join Ranbir for going to Dostana director Tarun Mansukhani’s birthday party at late night.
Since she got stuck due to her work commitments (shooting of Excel Entertainment’s Kartik Calling Kartik), Ranbir told her he would go alone to the party. But despite telling her so, he didn’t go their.
Instead he chose to attend another party that had his debut film Saawariya heroine Sonam Kapoor and her good friend Kunal Kapoor. He didn’t tell this to Deepika who was well under the impression for days that he was at Tarun’s party.
The birthday party saw new love birds Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra making and entry and exit together publicly for the first time. John Abraham and Bipasha Basu too came in for the bash.
When Deepika came to know about Ranbir’s lie, it is learnt that she lambasted him over the phone while he kept giving her excuses such as how it was all a last minute change in his plan etc.”

Now when we encountered Deepika Padukone at the latest Filmfare magazine issue launch and asked her about any strains in relationship happening between her and Ranbir, she questioned us back with a smile, “Do I appear hassled to you?”
Well certainly not Deepika but it is also true that you are a very fine actress.
Just days back, Ranbir’s sister Riddhima told to a news channel journo on TV that she doesn’t think Deepika is Ranbir’s girlfriend and that she knows Deepika Padukone only as one of his good friends.
